It shall be unlawful for any such person to operate any such vehicle, trailer or semitrailer,
or any combination thereof, or to permit the operation of any such vehicle, trailer
or semitrailer, or combination thereof when the maximum width, height or length of
such vehicle or combination thereof, or unit of a combination of vehicles, and of
the load thereon or therein shall exceed the limits fixed by provisions of sections
717 and 719 of the Michigan Vehicle Code (MCL 257.717, 257.719, MSA 9.2417, 9.2419),
unless a special permit is issued as provided in MCL 257.725, MSA 9.2425.
